About Us

Aim and Objectives

• To unite the Adventist Women living abroad in Christ.
• To enhance our effectiveness as witnesses for Christ abroad
• To support each other as members of ZAWI during crisis and social activities and events
• To identify programs that enable us to assist and empower our fellow women back home and abroad.

Our Story

The idea of Zambian women coming together began with individual inspirations to unite under Christ. Inspired by attending sister retreats like the Zimbabwean Association of Women Abroad Club (ZAWAC), the concept of forming a similar organization took shape. A pivotal meeting occurred in 2010 over a weekend at Even Moonga’s home in Bakersfield, where Kubi Siulapwa, Even Moonga and Rosina Foust brainstormed the objectives for this new initiative. During this momentous gathering, the Zambia Adventist Women International (ZAWI) was born.

This collaboration culminated in a teleconference with other interested women who were excited to join the organization, and the first executive committee was established. Four months later, ZAWI hosted its inaugural retreat in the beautiful San Bernardino mountains of Southern California, marking the beginning of a transformative journey. Since its inception, ZAWI has been a blessing to all its members, fostering a strong community of faith and support. It has been holding annual retreats/conferences in different states and has proven to be a great support system for its members in the inevitable seasons of their lives.

ZAWI has been involved in initiatives to help others in need back in Zambia. In 2019, with a ravaging drought in the Southern Province of Zambia, ZAWI members came together to help to alleviate hunger by donating mealie-meal. ZAWI has also been working on two other projects to support underprivileged girls get an education and helping vulnerable women start businesses towards self-sufficiency. Praise God for His mighty works as ZAWI continues to grow and positively impact lives!
